This afternoon reports have suggested that the West Ham board have made their decision on the future of Sam Allardyce, and they have decided to stick with him – for the last year of his contract at least.
Big Sam has been under extreme pressure since the close of season, with many West Ham fans urging the club to make a change. 78% from a poll of 12,000 fans voted to get rid during the season, and the decision to stick with Sam is certainly a bold one by the owners.
I said recently that even if Sam keeps his job his days are numbered, and my opinion hasn’t changed. Sam has lost the fans, and the decision to stick with him could prove to be a disastrous one for Gold & Sullivan, who the fans will no doubt point the finger at if we get a repeat of last season.
According to the reports the club will make a formal announcement tomorrow.
