The Daily Express have this afternoon revealed that Jack Colback, who yesterday completed his move to Newcastle United, in fact made a dramatic u-turn and tried to force a move to Upton Park instead.
According to the newspaper, the player had agreed to the terms at St James’ Park, and then decided that a move to West Ham was what he really wanted, and then tried to renege on the deal.
Unfortunately for Jack it was too late, and he therefore signed for Newcastle. There is however another twist. Colback was then offered to West Ham by Newcastle in a £5m deal, which we, rightly so, rejected – and Colback was then paraded as a Newcastle United player.
A strange scenario to say the least. It’s a pity he did not realise that a move to Upton Park was really what he wanted earlier on. Although one must question this players loyalty. Considering his treatment of Sunderland, and now ‘boyhood club’ Newcastle.
