West Ham defender Winston Reid was told to ”cheer up” by boss Sam Allardyce at a press conference following the clubs second defeat in their pre season tour of New Zealand.
West Ham fell to a 3-1 defeat to minnows Sydney FC, and produced a performance which has sent alarms bells ringing amongst fans.
Reid, who is currently locked in discussions with the club over a new deal, was in a despondent mood in front of the New Zealand press, and manager Sam Allardyce quickly tried to make light mood of the situation by putting his arm around Reid and saying ”Try and cheer up a bit.”
Reid then declared that the trip had been ”a hard one for me.” This statement will no doubt have many fans wondering if this relates to his future at the club.
Reid continued ”We came down here and we expected to do well and we didn’t do so well. Now we’ll go back home and we’ll work on some things. I just want to say thank you to New Zealand for having us down here and I look forward to coming back.”
