West Ham were successful in their pre-season tournament match against Schalke as they overcame the hosts as a result of a penalty shoutout following a goalless 90 minutes.
It wasn’t a comfortable win for West Ham however, with the home side striking the woodwork twice, and the team barely threatening the Schalke goal during the match.
Sam Allardyce will have his work cut out as the team looked void of any creativity or pace. It seemed to be a team happy to settle for a 0-0 draw right from kick off. Not exactly what us fans had in mind for this new attacking style of play promised.
With the season kick off only two weeks away, it’s a real worry that the team seem to be playing the same formation with the same mentality of last season.
