Manager Sam Allardyce has stated that West Ham are only interested in recruiting a new defender, and that the recruitment in the attacking department is now complete.
The club have added Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho to the forward line, however with a minor injury possibly ruling out James Tomkins and James Collins suspended for this weekends clash at Crystal Palace, the club are short of options at the back.
“Our main concern is around the defensive area – particularly the centre-half positions – because we are so short of numbers.
“It is all right scoring goals and creating chances to score even more goals, but if we can’t keep them out at the other end , it won’t make any difference.
“We are looking at players who are available to play in that position throughout Europe.”
