Andy Carroll has been told that he will not be given back his place in the starting 11 once he returns from injury next month.
The clubs record signing has so far missed all matches this season due to an injury to his ankle ligaments which he picked up in pre season.
Carroll is expected to resume first team training at the beginning of November, however due to the current form shown by Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho, Carroll has been told he faces a tough fight to regain his place in the starting lineup.
This is stark contrast to last season when the club relied so heavily on the Geordie returning from injury to help bag much needed goals in a season where the club ended up finishing 13th.
There is fresh newspaper speculation this morning that Newcastle United will be ‘offered’ Carroll this January, this is something the club have once again flatly denied.
