West Ham are to sit down with Winston Reid and his advisors next week with the hope that Reid will commit his long term future to the club by putting pen to paper on a 5 year contract worth £60k a week.
The New Zealand defender, who signed for the club as an unknown back in 2010, has become one of the clubs most prized assets with his outstanding performances in recent seasons.
There has however been mounting speculation that Reid is keen to move on to a bigger club, with the hope of playing Champions League football. Arsenal and Liverpool are known to be keen admirers of Reid, and West Ham are hoping the offer on the table will be enough to persuade the centre back his future lies in East London.
As reported yesterday, the club are expected to inform Reid and his advisors that the deal on offer will not be improved, so the meeting scheduled is a ‘make or break’.
If terms cannot be agreed then it is expected that Reid, who is in the last year of his contract, will be transfer listed this January to avoid losing the player for nothing at the end of the season.
