There will be smiles etched on the faces of all West Ham fans this morning following another outstanding performance and win against Swansea City at Upton Park yesterday afternoon.
It was a win that propelled the Irons to the dizzying heights of third in the Premier League, however as exciting as that is, another big reason to smile this morning is the witnessing of Andy Carroll to the form in which convinced the club to part with £15m for his services.
Carroll was simply unstoppable, and spent yesterday terrorising the Swansea City defence in a way that will strike fear into the defenders that lie in his wake around the country.
It was a performance that showed that Carroll is back fit at last, and is now ready to make his mark in East London, and play his part in this so far very special season.
”He is unstoppable when he gets that space,” said Allardyce after the match.
“Movement in the box is what it is all about, the heading ability only comes after the movement is right to give you the space to attack the ball and that happened with his two goals.
“I think when he stands a little too close to defenders and starts fighting them we don’t get the best out of him. Hopefully he continues to learn that way.”
Carroll was equally pleased following his performance and teams result, speaking to BBC he said “It is fantastic to be back on the pitch and play as many games as I have in the last few weeks. There is nothing better than scoring goals as a striker, so I was desperate to get a goal, and it is a great feeling.
“You always have to just think about the positives when injured, the medical staff have helped me a lot and it is credit to them that I am back.”
With Sunderland away up next followed by Leicester City at Upton Park there is every reason for us fans to feel that the club can continue to build on our unbelievable season so far.
