Those are the two words I would use to describe our defeat to Aston Villa today. We once again, and so very predictably, rolled over to a team fighting to stay up.
We started the match terribly, and looked completely lost – in fact it was hard to believe we were only 1-0 down at half time.
A Sam Allardyce shake up during the break did make a difference, and we started to look like a team who actually cared about getting a result. Sadly however, and as usual, it was a case of too little too late.
Enter Valencia was unlucky to have a goal ruled out for offside – but that aside, today we were second best.
Since the turn of the year it’s something us fans have come accustomed to, playing in a manner that suggests we are not hungry for success. It’s actually hard to remember the days of 2014 when we looked a side who could beat anybody.
Our season is whimpering out, and I, like most I’m sure, am happy to see the back of this depressing spell, and hope to start next season in a much more positive and ambitious manner.
