Same old, same old

West Ham 2-2 Astra

Somehow West Ham managed to throw away a 2 goal lead in a first leg Europa League qualifier with Astra, which saw another red card, and an additional one for manager Slaven Bilic.

It was a night where once again our European football naivety was evident, as the team fell victim to the underhand tactics many sides use around Europe.

The game started well though, and goals from Enner Valencia & Mauro Zarate should have been enough to see West Ham take victory into the second leg.

However, it wasn’t to be as Slaven Bilics side fell to 10 men once again with James Collins picking up 2 yellow cards from clumsy challenges.

A wonder strike and an Ogbonna own goal levelled proceedings, and with the added factor that Enner Valencia picked up a nasty looking injury – plus Slaven Bilic being sent to the stands, it’s safe to say that things are still very much West Ham as we know it.

Worrying signs, however it’s early days. No need to panic.
