There will be many Hammers fans this morning waking up feeling bitterly disappointed that our Europa League adventure is already over following last nights defeat to Romanian outfit Astra – me being one. I mean who doesn’t feel that way when your team loses? However, I believe Bilic got it right.
This season is a huge one for our club, possibly the most important in our life time. We are set on a move to a new stadium which could hold the key for us to compete with the top 6 in this country in the very near future.
Our top priority this season, whether you like it or not, is the Premier League. We must retain our status in this division whatever the cost, including sacrificing a European tour. And let’s be honest, it’s a tour we didn’t deserve to be on in the first place.
I felt very uncomfortable with the fact we were entered into the tournaments qualifying stages, due to we were simply dreadful for the most part of last season, and finishing 11th.. It simply didn’t feel right.
To those who disagree you must open your eyes and realise we are simply not ready for this. We are a club still finding our feet in the Premier League, and this was a case of trying to run whilst just learning to crawl.
If we get this season right, which I truly believe we will, there will be European nights ahead no doubt about it.
So yes, although it’s a shame, it’s not the end of the world. Let’s realise what a fantastic season this can be, and let’s hope we show we mean business this Sunday against neighbours Arsenal.
