In what will be Arsenals last ever visit to the Boleyn Ground it served up everything that this Premier League season has stood for so far. It was pulsating. A classic.
We started far too casual in our play, and Arsenal always looked like scoring going forward. So it wasn’t a surprise we found ourselves 2-0 behind following goals from Ozil and Sanchez after 33 minutes.
Our bad luck with officials though continued, as a perfectly legal Lanzini goal was ruled offside from a Carroll overhead kick. Shocking, again we felt hard done by.
However, this West Ham side showed again that we are not weak, and never give up.
Within the 3 final minutes of the first half Andy Carroll netted twice to send both teams into the dressing rooms knowing that it was ‘game on!’
Second half continued as the first when Carroll netted his hattrick following another goal ruled out, this time Payets, over a rather dubious foul decision on Carroll.
We were in control, but Arsenal always looked a threat going forward.
They were rewarded on 70 mins when Koscielny equalised making the last 20 mins an end to end affair.
Full time was blown and once again we feel robbed. However, we were 2-0 down against Arsenal, and didn’t lose.
That cannot be considered a bad result.
Top 4 looks a tough ask now, but we now know our Irons won’t throw in the towel.
Now onto Manchester United this Wednesday for our beloved homes last ever FA Cup tie.
