Fletcher the latest as campaign cogs turn

As the dust begins to settle on another disastrous summer tournament for our England troops – we can all start looking forward to the brand spanking new Premier League season that awaits our ambitious West Ham.

Not only on the horizon is a new 60,000 seater stadium for us to make our home, but the licks of paint required on our squad to improve on last seasons heroics are starting to be applied.

The arrivals of Sofiane Feghouli and Havard Nordtveit show our club are certainly aiming to turn up a gear in our pursuit for success, and the latest news of Manchester Uniteds Ashley Fletchers imminent arrival is certainly no exception to that rule.

My dear friend and podcast chum Zachery Stephenson has spoken to me many times about Fletcher. He is a firm believer that he is going to be a big player for our country in the near future.

Fletcher spent last season on loan Barnsley, helping guide the club back to the Championship via a play off victory over our chums Millwall.. The England U-20 striker was outstanding for the tykes last season, and his addition to our squad can only be seen as a huge positive.

It also shows our club are not ones who are all about a smash & grab in the transfer market for quick success, but ones who are carefully planning for continued success in the future – and that fills me with such excitement as we embark on the roads ahead.

Stratford awaits a team that I believe is ready to challenge the elite for Champions League football. Our current squad with the addition of a top striker is one capable of beating any top side, as we proved last season – it’s just now making sure the striker we spend the cash on is the right one.

It’s been a typical summer so far where we have been linked with every man & his dog, which was to be expected – but now as pre season training starts today, it’s becoming clear that there is now an element of urgency is our club obtaining the right man to lead the line next season.

One man who has so far eluded our radar, or at least the press rumours, is Wilfried Bony of Manchester City – a striker who at 27 is entering his prime years, and who we know is deadly infront of goal, not to mention experienced in this league.

Bony is a man who wants out at City, where he spent the majority of last season keeping the subs bench warm. For me, he’s the man we should be pursuing this summer, and one I believe would jump at the chance to spearhead our attack on in our pursuit for glory.

It remains to be seen who the David’s will acquire come kick off next month, but one this is for sure – West Ham will be a string outfit next season, and one who teams will not look forward to facing.

Roll on August!
